Week 1 summary and readings

Hopefully I didn't scare anyone away with my rambling tonight. Just in case anything I wrote on the board was useful, here are the scribbles.

Week 1 readings

• CSC 110 Readings: Read chapter 0 and chapter 1. Chapter 1 gives an overview of Nova computer networks, some of what we covered this week, and some of the concepts we'll go into next week.
• The full stack: source of rough orders of magnitude for reading data at various layers of the hardware model.
• Inside the Machine: (optional) a good, introductory (but very detailed) book on computer architecture. I'd suggest reading chapter 1.
